Action Arcade Wrestling is an arcade-style wrestling game. Players choose from over 30 characters, import fan-created wrestlers, or create their own. Then they can slug it out in head-to-head or tag-team matches. Like classic arcade wrestling games, Action Arcade Wrestling uses a simple two-button control system. Its colorful, cartoon-influenced graphics similarly call back to an earlier era of wrestling games.

Many wrestling games focus on detailed character creation or simulation, but Action Arcade Wrestling goes in a different direction. It has some of the intense customizations seen in Fire Pro Wrestling World but focuses less on realism. And instead of the real-world wrestlers of WWE 2K22, it features a cast of outrageous characters with superhuman powers.

Over-the-top arcade action

Wrestling has always featured larger-than-life characters, and Action Arcade Wrestling follows this trend as far as it can with its super-powered wrestlers. If the range of available wrestlers is not enough, players can create their own using the companion app. Alternatively, wrestlers created by the game's community are available for download, although the number of downloads per day is capped.

Action Arcade Wrestling has a narrower focus than some other wrestling games. It is relatively light on single-player content, with no career mode. Although it does include exhibition matches against AI wrestlers, the AI provides limited challenges for experienced players. The main attraction of the game is the opportunity to go head-to-head with other players.

Exciting but limited

Fans of classic arcade wrestling games will find a lot to like. However, Action Arcade Wrestling is not for players who want to tinker with every aspect of their character's stats. Though for players looking for an accessible combat system and a cartoon wrestling aesthetic, Action Arcade Wrestling does what other games don't.
